Equipment Needed

To Make Steak Bites in the Air Fryer, you'll need:
• Sharp Knife
• Cutting Board
• Small Mixing Bowl
• Air Fryer – Any size.
• Small Bamboo Skewers or Wood Toothpicks (don't use plastic).

Which Air Fryer is Best?

I actually reviewed several and have a few favorites: Here is my article for the 5 Best Air Fryers.

Ingredients

Simple ingredients for your Air Fryer Steak Bites recipe:

• Bacon Strips – Cut strips in half. Use regular cut bacon, not thick-cut.
• Filet Mignon Steak – Or use NY Strip, Top Sirloin Steak, Ribeye, T-bone, etc.

Simple Seasonings (use this mix or a premade blend such as Montreal steak seasoning or your favorite steak seasoning)
• Olive Oil – Or use Avocado Oil (or omit the oil altogether)
• Salt and Black Pepper
• Paprika – Use regular sweet paprika or try smoked paprika.
• Red Chili Flakes – Adds a little heat. Omit the red pepper flakes if you don’t want spicy steak bites.
• Garlic Powder – Works best to coat the meat evenly. You can try garlic paste if that's whet you have.
• Onion Powder – to season the meat.

How Many Steak Bites Can I Get From a Pound of Meat?

  • It will depend on the size of the steak cubes and how you cut the meat. As a rough estimate, you can typically get around 16 to 20 bite-sized cubes from a pound of steak when cutting them into 1-inch to 1.5-inch cubes.
  • This can vary based on the specific type of steak and how thick you cut the steak cubes. You will need to air fry in batches depending on the capacity of your air fryer.

How To Make Air Fryer Steak Bites Wrapped in Bacon

Step 1 – Cube the Steak
• Using a sharp knife, cut the steak into bite-sized cubes. Don't make the bite-sized pieces too small as they may cook too fast.
• Cut the bacon slices in half.

Step 2 – Mix Up the Seasonings
• In a small bowl, mix together the salt, pepper, paprika, chili flakes, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Step 3 – Season the Steak Pieces
• Add the oil and pieces of steak to a large bowl. Then add the seasonings to the steak and mix well to coat all of the pieces.

Step 4 – Wrap in Bacon
• Wrap each individual steak bite with a strip of bacon. Overlap the ends a little as bacon shrinks when cooked. Secure by piercing all the way through with a small bamboo skewer, or use a wood toothpick (don't use plastic!).

Step 5 – Air Fry the Steak Bites
• Add the prepared steak bites to the Air Fryer basket with the steak side up in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the basket. Cook at 380°F degrees for 11-15 minutes depending on how well done you want your bacon and steak (I cooked for 11 minutes for a medium rare steak. Cook time may vary for yours. Do a test if you want to be sure).

Internal Temperatures for Steaks

Rare: 120°F, Medium-Rare: 130°F, Medium: 140°F, Medium-Well: 150°F, Well-Done: 160°F.
An instant read thermometer is the best way to check the internal temperature to test doneness.

Step 6 – Serve with Sauce for Dipping
• Enjoy as they are right out of the Air Fryer, or serve with a tasty sauce, or a dip.

Here Are Some Dipping Sauce Ideas

Garlic Butter Sauce – Just mix melted butter with garlic paste or garlic salt or garlic powder.
BBQ Sauce – Use your favorite barbecue sauce or make homemade.
Ranch Dressing – A classic dip!
Blue Cheese Dressing – Find a thick variety. The flavor compliments the steak perfectly!
Horseradish – Just like on prime rib, this is delicious. We like the creamed variety.
Steak Sauce – Try A-1, or any variety that you like.

TIPS FOR THE BEST BACON-WRAPPED STEAK BITES

  • Choose a tender cut of beef, like filet mignon, ribeye, t-bone, New York strip steak, porterhouse, or skirt steak.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. Leave room around each steak bite for the hot air to circulate in the air fryer basket and evenly cook the steak bites.
  • Use regular-cut or thin-cut bacon. Thick bacon takes too long to cook (you could precook it a few minutes if that is all you have).
  • Consider doubling this recipe as Air Fryer Bacon Wrapped Steak Bites get eaten quickly!

What Side Dish to Serve with Steak Bites?

Since they are just meat, many side will work with this easy recipe. Think about what you can have ready or make quickly while they cook.
• Coleslaw Side Salad
• Vegetable sides like Broccoli, Corn, Baked Potatoes, Mashed Potatoes
• Mashed Cauliflower
• French Fries

Leftover Steak Bites Storage

Store leftover steak bites in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 3-4 days. Freeze up to 3 months.

Rare: 120°F, Medium-Rare: 130°F, Medium: 140°F, Medium-Well: 150°F, Well-Done: 160°F.

*Air Fryer models vary, as do cuts of meat, so I suggest doing a test before cooking the entire batch so you get the level of doneness you prefer.

I made these for my sister who eats low carb. She loved them, and we did too! I want to make these for Thanksgiving this year as an appetizer and it won't need the oven! Thanks for the yummy recipe! Love my air fryer.
