Creamy Garlic Parmesan Sauce

It's good to have a few basic homemade sauce recipes in your recipe box.

You never know when you might want to whip up a quick pasta or veggie dish that needs a tasty sauce. So this recipe is great for dinner on busy weeknights.

What to Put Creamy Garlic Parmesan Sauce On?

This Creamy Garlic Parmesan Sauce recipe is decadent, and tastes amazing over veggies or meat. Here are some ideas:

  • Vegetables: Put this sauce on roasted cauliflower, steamed broccoli, spaghetti squash, Brussels sprouts, roasted carrots, etc.
  • Pasta Sauce: Serve this buttery garlic sauce with pasta. This sauce works on any pasta shape, but some favorites are: Orzo, Fettuccine, Spaghetti, or Gnocchi.
  • Pizza Sauce: Make a fabulous white pizza using this sauce! See sauce variations below for some flavor options.

Use parmesan garlic sauce as the best dipping sauce for meat: We really like it with: chicken tenders, steak, wings, or salmon.

Make some awesome parmesan garlic Wings (parmesan wings are a personal favorite!).

This Garlic Parmesan Cream Sauce is a favorite to put on Air Fryer Chicken Wings. Toss cooked wings with the sauce and serve (or broil a couple minutes then serve).

Simple Ingredients in This Creamy Garlic Sauce

This is a great sauce recipe that uses basic ingredients that you can get at your local grocery store.
See the recipe card for exact measurements. Recipe can be doubled for a big batch.

Unsalted Butter - For the best flavor (I haven't tested this recipe with olive oil).
Fresh Garlic Cloves - Or Roasted Garlic(or use garlic powder)
All Purpose Flour - You can try gluten free flour (though I still have to test it).
Chicken Broth - Or use veggie broth.
Kosher Salt and Black Pepper
Nutmeg - It may sound strange, but a little really gives the sauce the best flavor.
Heavy Cream - Use heavy whipping cream for a thicker sauce, or half and half to cut a few calories (sauce will be a little thinner).
Parmesan Cheese - Freshly grated or pre-grated cheese is fine.
Garnishes:
Chopped Parsley
Parmesan Cheese - Sprinkle extra cheese on each serving of food.

Simple Steps for Homemade Garlic Parmesan Sauce

1) Melt butter over medium low heat in a skillet.
2) Using a garlic press, add the garlic to the melted butter and stir constantly for a minute or so. Don’t overcook!
3) Whisk in the flour (it will form a paste) and cook for a minute, stirring constantly, to get the raw taste out of the flour.
4) Increase heat to medium-high and gradually whisk in the broth. Be sure to whisk out any lumps.
5) Add salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
6) Whisk in the heavy cream and remove pan from burner.
7) Stir in the parmesan cheese.
8) Taste and adjust salt to your liking.

Easy Sauce Variations

Spicy Sauce - Try adding some red pepper flakes to the sauce (to taste) when you add the garlic. This will give the sauce a nice little kick of extra heat.
Buffalo Sauce - A very flavorful sauce just by adding some buffalo wing sauce to this recipe. It's spicy and delicious!
White Sauce - This creamy sauce is technically a white sauce, but you can omit the garlic (what?!) for a milder sauce for other recipes.
Italian Pasta Sauce - Just add some Italian Seasoning to the sauce when you add the garlic. Then you will have a great Italian sauce for pasta or pizza, calzones, etc.

Storage

• Put leftover sauce into an airtight container and keep in the fridge up to 4 days. Reheat on low heat, gently.
• Freezing is not recommended for this recipe.

Would this work with subbing a keto friendly flour such as coconut flour? possibly with an additional thickener, like Xanthium gum? thanks!
