Air Fryer Dog Treats are delicious peanut butter pumpkin dog biscuits made in the air fryer. These homemade dog biscuits are easy to make and your dog will be happy to eat these!
Air Fryer Dog Treats
Making homemade dog treats is easy and less expensive than buying them in the pet stores.
Air Fryer Dog Treats have only 4 ingredients, so you will know exactly what you are feeding your dog.
These tasty pumpkin peanut butter dog cookies can be made in a large or small batch. They are ready in under an hour.
Use Only Pet Safe Peanut Butter
It is important that you only use natural peanut butter that has no sugar added and absolutely no xylitol (an artificial sweetener).
• Xylitol is extremely toxic to dogs. Even small amounts of xylitol can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), seizures, liver failure, or even death in dogs (quoted from VCA Animal Hospitals).
• Natural peanut butter options are easy to find in most grocery stores.
How to Make Air Fryer Dog Treats
Only 4 ingredients. Gather them together. Mix the peanut butter, pumpkin, and eggs in a bowl.
After mixing, add some flour and mix it in and form the dough.
Knead on a work surface to make a ball of dough, and roll it out to an even ¼-inch thickness. Use a cute cookie cutter or cut squares.
Arrange the treats in the air fryer basket onto parchment paper. Then cook.
You will need to cook in batches, depending on how much your air fryer holds.
Can Dogs Eat Flour?
- Most dogs can eat flour, as long as they are not allergic to wheat, and in small amounts (such as occasional dog treats). You can use all-purpose flour or wheat flour. Both are safe for dogs.
- If you want to make these dog cookies wheat-free, you can use rice flour of coconut flour as a substitute. The consistency may be different.
About the Pumpkin
• Be sure to only use 100% pure pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie mix. Just check the label before you make the treats.
• You can use sweet potato puree if you don't have pumpkin.
Can These Be Baked in the Oven?
Yes they can be baked in the oven at 350° F on a parchment lined baking sheet for about 20 minutes.
Tips for Air Fryer Dog Biscuits
- If your air fryer doesn’t let you set it to 370°F, use 365°F, or the next closest temperature. Cook time may need adjusting.
- Each air fryer is shaped differently and can hold varying amounts. You will most likely need to cook in multiple batches.
- Be sure not to let any excess parchment paper go up the sides of your air fryer. You want it to lay flat on the bottom, or it may fold over the treats.
- For softer treats, keep the cook time as listed. For a crunchy treat, increase cook time by three minutes or until the treat has reached the right consistency. Be careful to not burn the treat.
Tips For a Small Batch of Dog Treats
- You can make a smaller batch of these dog treats, just cut the recipe in half.
- If cooking only a couple at a time in a larger air fryer, the treats may try to curl as they are thin.

- 2 ¾ Cups Flour
- 1 Cup Pumpkin Puree (not pumpkin pie mix)
- ⅓ Cup Peanut Butter* (preferably unsweetened, see notes)
- 2 Eggs
-
Add the pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and eggs to a large mixing bowl and mix until fully combined.
-
Add in 1 cup of flour and mix until combined. Add in another cup of the flour and mix until a doughy mixture forms.
-
Knead the dough by hand and add the remaining flour as needed, until the dough reaches a soft, but not sticky or crumbly consistency.
-
Lay out a large piece of parchment paper and sprinkle lightly with flour before dumping the dough onto the prepared surface.
-
Roll out with a rolling pin to about ¼-inch thickness.
-
Cut out as many cookies as you can with your cookie cutter (I used the bone shape) and set aside on a cookie sheet or similar dish.
-
Line the bottom of your air fryer with parchment paper and place as many treats as you can, in the bottom, without them touching. I was able to fit 6-7 at a time in my particular air fryer.
-
Cook on 370° F for 4-5 Minutes or until just lightly browned on the top. Remove and let cool before feeding to your dog.
-
Repeat until all treats are done. Store in an airtight container away from moisture and heat.
