Slow Cooker Chicken and Gravy

People are always asking me for more ways to cook boneless/skinless chicken breasts. If the recipe can be scaled up or down, all the better. I have the best slow cooker chicken recipe for you today!

You can use 2 to 4 pounds of chicken, depending on how many people you need to feed. Keep the rest of the ingredients the same, you will have a little more gravy if you use less chicken.

This crock pot chicken and gravy recipe is really not new, it’s an old-fashioned favorite, but my version can be made easily with just a couple of shortcuts.

What are the Recipe Shortcuts?

The first shortcut is chicken gravy or brown gravy mix packets. You know the ones, they are in the same place you find the taco seasoning packets in the grocery store.

These days most of these packets don’t contain MSG (at least McCormick’s doesn’t), and the flavor is really good. This recipe takes 2 packets.

The second shortcut is good old cream of chicken soup. You will need 2 cans of it. Or, try 1 can of chicken and 1 can of cream of celery or mushroom.

Absolutely amazing. I wanted to try it with Frozen Mixed Vegetables but not sure when I have to put them in! Could you help me out?

    1. Sandy says:

I would add them about 1 hour before serving.

  2. Johna says:

So economical, easy & delicious! I put it with mashed potatoes & salad, but I can easily see it going well with rice or biscuits. Thanks for this recipe!

  3. Megan says:

We love this and we serve it with mashed potatoes and waffles.

  4. Jessica says:

Great recipe! I cooked it on low for 6 hours and used chicken broth instead of water. I loved it, but my boyfriend and his family loved it even more!

    1. Jessica says:

Oh and I added russet potatoes and we ate it over white rice. Delicious

  5. Lori says:

This is by far a new family favorite. My son who is so darn picky requests this! I serve it over rice for my husband and I and my kids like it over spaghetti.

    1. Emily Rogers says:

Can you use chicken broth instead of water? Would you use the same amount?

      1. Sandy says:

Yes, but be sure to use low sodium as the gravy packets have quite a bit of sodium in them. Use the same amount as water.

  6. Hanna says:

This is so good! I served it over mashed potatoes and we ate every bit of it (we have 3 kids). This is now in our rotation!
