Air Fryer Turkey Burgers are absolutely scrumptious! Crisp on the outside, and tender and juicy on the inside. Cooking a turkey burger in the air fryer is so easy and fast, with minimal cleanup!

Air Fryer Turkey Burgers

With air fryer technology, people have discovered another fun and healthier way to cook their favorite foods. Today I am sharing one of my favorites, Air Fryer Turkey Burgers! They are wonderful!

Who doesn't like a big, juicy burger that is not only well seasoned, but well cooked?

Air frying a burger allows the heat to circulate all around the meat. This gives the outside of the burger a nice crust, while leaving it juicy and tender inside.

This is how I like my burgers, lots of cheese, and minimal toppings. Yum!

Can I use ground beef instead of turkey?

Yes you can! The cook time is almost the same, unless you like a medium rare burger. In that case just cook it at the same temperature, but for less time.

The beauty of the air fryer is that you have the ability to open the lid during the cooking cycle and flip the burger, as well as check on the progress!

Which air fryer is the best?

There are lids you can put on the Instant Pot now, dedicated air fryers, and multi-cookers. As long as you can dial in the temperature and the time, they should all cook pretty similarly.

I happen to have the Ninja Foodi® (affiliate), which is both a pressure cooker and an air fryer. I like it a lot!

Course: Dinner
Cuisine: American
Keyword: how to cook a turkey burger in the air fryer
Servings: 4

Author: Sandy Clifton
Ingredients
  • 1 Egg
  • ⅓ cup Bread Crumbs
  • ¼ cup Whole Milk
  • 1 tsp Kosher Salt (or ¾ tsp regular salt)
  • ½ tsp Pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • ½ tsp Onion Powder
  • ¼ tsp Poultry Seasoning
  • 1 lb Ground Turkey (85% to 93% lean)
  • Sliced Cheese (optional)
Instructions
  1. In a bowl, beat the egg. Then add the bread crumbs and the milk. Mix well.

  2. Add the salt, pepper garlic powder, onion powder, and poultry seasoning. Mix well.

  3. Add the ground turkey and mix well with a fork to combine ingredients.

  4. Form 4 (4 oz) burger patties, or 3 (6 oz), or 2 (8 oz). Make an indent in the center of each patty about the size of a nickel (this helps reduce puffing up).

  5. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and add the burger patties.

  6. Close the lid and select the air fryer option for your model.

  7. ---NOTE: Thicker patties may need a longer cook time.---

*Choose 360° F, and 14 minutes for a 4 oz patty. For 6 oz patties cook for 17 minutes. For 8 oz patties cook for 20 minutes. Flip the burgers halfway through cook time.

  8. The burgers should be at least 165° F internal temperature to be done.

  9. If you want a cheeseburger, place slices of cheese on the burgers and close the lid for a couple of minutes to melt it.

  10. Remove and build a fabulous turkey burger!

Recipe Notes

*There are many styles of air fryers on the market now. I used a Ninja Foodi® for this recipe. Cook times may vary with different styles/models.

First off, my Husband is the world’s biggest and most dedicated carnivore... and he is also the world’s PICKIEST eater!!! ( his list of “no ways” is huge!! Sometimes because he doesn’t like the name!!) I finally (after 30+ years!) talked him into trying one week of healthy eating! Tonight we had your air fryer Turkey Burgers... he was scared and made me take the first bite. HE LOVED them!! This is huge!!! Thank you so much!!! 5 ⭐️!!!

I made this recipe a couple of weeks ago, and am making again now. The turkey burgers were like you said, crispy outside, tender inside. Sooo delicious!

I followed the recipe and i don’t know what happened but I could not flip them they were mush. I continued cooking and much later they hit the desired temp. Once there I could try them. This is my first turkey burger and it was really good! Frustrating at first. But very good in the end!

Ground turkey tends to be softer than ground beef. Also, your air fryer may take longer to get to temp. Try adding 5 minutes before flipping next time. Thank you for your comment!

They were delicious!! Considering the fact that I cant cook, these turned out moist and very flavorful! I did add a little more breadcrumbs, and garlic powder. Definitely a keeper!
