How to Make Melted Snowman Bark

This Christmas treat is so easy to make, and kids love to join in the fun!

Adult supervision is needed to handle the hot melted chocolate. ⚠️ Safety first! We don’t want any melted kids!

Steps for making melted snowman bark: melting almond bark, spooning puddles onto a lined baking sheet, and decorating with candies and pretzels.

Three simple, but fun, steps to make delicious Melted Snowman Christmas candy:

1. Melt the almond bark.
2. Make the puddles.
3. Decorate and let set.

Tips for Making Melted Snowman Bark

  • Get everything ready first. Cut the peanut butter cups, break the pretzels, and sort your candies before melting the almond bark.
  • Work one snowman at a time. Spoon out a puddle and decorate it before moving on to the next. You can also melt half of the almond bark at a time.
  • A little candy glue helps. If a puddle sets before you’re finished, dab some melted almond bark on the back of a decoration to attach it.

Storing Your Snowmen

Let the bark set completely, then store in an airtight container at room temperature, in the refrigerator, or in the freezer.

⚠️ Keep them away from heat. These snowmen have already melted once!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups White Almond Bark (chopped, or White Chocolate Chips)
  • 5 Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (cut in half from top to bottom)
  • 20 Candy Eyeballs
  • 10 Long Orange Sprinkles (for the "carrot" nose)
  • 30 Round Candies (such as Red Hots, mini M&M’s, or Sixlets)
  • 10 Pretzel Sticks (broken in half)

Instructions

Prep

  • Line a baking sheet with wax paper. Cut the peanut butter cups, break the pretzel sticks, and organize all of the decorations before melting the almond bark.

Melt Chocolate

  • Place the almond bark or white chocolate chips in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until mostly melted. Stir until completely melted and smooth.

Make Snowmen

  • Spoon one uneven circle onto the wax paper, about ¼ inch thick. Immediately decorate it with two candy eyeballs, a peanut butter cup half for the hat, an orange sprinkle for the nose, three round candies for the buttons, and two pretzel pieces for the arms.
  • Apply the decorations a little randomly, but still in the pattern that you would recognize as a snowman, to make it look like the snowman dropped everything when he melted. Repeat with the remaining melted almond bark and decorations, making and decorating one snowman at a time.

Let Set Up

  • Let stand for about 15 minutes, or until completely set, then gently lift the snowmen off the wax paper.

Notes

Yield: The decoration amounts are for 10 snowmen with three buttons each. The yield will depend on the size of your puddles, so have a few extra decorations ready if you make smaller snowmen.
Speed of Decorating: You can melt half of the almond bark at a time to give yourself more time to decorate. If a puddle sets before you finish, use a dab of melted almond bark on the back of each remaining decoration to attach it.
⚠️Kids: This is a fun project for older kids, with an adult handling the hot melted candy. Please use caution.
Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature, in the refrigerator, or in the freezer. Keep away from heat.
