Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Potatoes

Roasted potatoes are one of the most delicious ways to prepare these funny looking little spuds. Sometimes it takes too long, or maybe you don't want to turn on your oven.

If that's the case, then try these tasty Air Fryer baby potatoes. They are so easy to make, and you won't have to wait for the oven to warm up, or heat up your kitchen for one side dish.

Mix the oil and spices together in glass bowl
Mix the oil and the spices together in a bowl.

Using garlic and onion powders is better than fresh for this recipe as they will dissolve into the oil.

Mix in the parmesan cheese
Mix in the parmesan cheese. Save some to sprinkle on the hot potatoes when they are done air frying.

What size potatoes works best for air frying?

You can air fry any size potato. The bigger they are, the longer they will take to cook all the way through.

For this recipe the baby or miniature potatoes work best. You can often fine them in the grocery store in mesh bags. There's about 1 pound or so in a bag.

Add the potatoes to the bowl
Add the potatoes to the bowl and stir to coat with the seasonings.

Make sure the potatoes are dry before doing this step or the oil won't stick and they won't crisp well.

placing potatoes in air fryer basket
Add the potatoes to the air fryer basket. Depending on how big your basket is, you may need to do two batches.

You don't want to crowd the potatoes or they will steam and won't crisp up very well.

If you do two batches, be sure to keep the first batch warm! If you are having gravy or hot butter, it won't matter too much.

Does it matter what color potatoes I use?

Nope. I like the flavor of the baby red potatoes best, but I'll eat gold or white potatoes, too. Use whatever color you like!

There are even purple baby potatoes! You also can use a mix of colors if you want.

Ingredients
  • 1 lb Baby Potatoes (or other potatoes*)
  • 2-3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • ½ teaspoon Salt (or to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Onion Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Paprika (optionally, use smoked for extra flavor)
  • ½ teaspoon Dried Basil Leaves (or Italian seasoning)
  • ½ cup Grated Parmesan, divided
  • 2 Tablespoons Chopped Parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
  1. Rinse the potatoes and pat dry with a paper towel. Be sure to dry thoroughly. Set aside.

  2. Mix the olive oil and the seasonings in a bowl.

  3. Add ¼ cup of the parmesan and mix in.

  4. Add the potatoes to the bowl and stir the potatoes to coat them with the mixture.

  5. Add to the air fryer basket, spreading out so they don't touch. That way they will get crisp and not steamed.

  6. Set the temperature to 400° F and cook for 15 minutes, tossing/stirring the potatoes halfway through the cook time.

  7. Test the potatoes with a toothpick or small knife to see if they are tender enough for you. If not, just close the lid and cook for a few more minutes.

  8. Remove to a serving dish and sprinkle the hot potatoes with the remaining parmesan and some chopped parsley.

Recipe Notes

*Cut larger sized potatoes into smaller pieces before seasoning and cooking.
