Easy Halloween Mummy Oreo Truffles

These mummy Oreo balls are as much fun to decorate as they are to eat! The white coating makes the perfect background for those silly candy eyes.

The bandages don’t have to be neat. A few overlapping drizzles give each mummy its own personality!

This small batch makes 10 generously sized truffles. You can easily double it for a party.

Why You’ll Love These Mummy Oreo Truffles

  • No baking. A food processor makes quick work of the filling.
  • Creamy centers. Cinnamon and Golden Oreos taste delicious beneath the sweet coating.
  • Simple decorating. No detailed piping or perfect lines needed.
  • Make ahead. Keep them chilled until you’re ready to serve.
  • Easy to double. Make 20 truffles for a larger gathering.

Inside, these mummy truffles have a soft, creamy Golden Oreo filling with a light cinnamon flavor. It’s a delicious contrast to the firm, sweet white chocolate coating!

Mummy Oreo Truffle Ingredients

A few simple ingredients are all you need to make these little Halloween mummies.

Halloween Mummy Oreo Truffles ingredients

For exact amounts, please see the recipe card below.

Golden Double Stuf Oreo Cookies, Full-Fat Brick Cream Cheese, Ground Cinnamon, White Melting Wafers, Candy Eyes

Use the whole cookies, including the filling. This recipe uses Golden Double Stuf Oreos. Their extra filling affects the dough’s consistency, so follow the cream cheese amount in the recipe card.

Use brick cream cheese rather than whipped or spreadable cream cheese. White melting wafers or candy coating designed for dipping make the coating easier to work with.

Variations and Substitutions

  • Regular Golden Oreos: Use 18 cookies and start with the cream cheese amount listed. If the mixture is crumbly and won’t hold together when squeezed, add softened cream cheese 1 teaspoon at a time until it rolls into smooth balls.
  • Original Oreos: Regular chocolate Oreo cookies are delicious in these truffles, too! They give the filling a rich cookies-and-cream flavor. You can leave out the cinnamon for this version.
  • Pumpkin spice: For a fuller fall spice flavor, add a little pumpkin pie spice along with the cinnamon. Start with ¼ teaspoon for this batch and adjust to taste.
  • Plain vanilla: Leave out the cinnamon for a simple Golden Oreo filling.
  • Other occasions: Skip the mummy bandages and use sprinkles to match your celebration.

How to Make Mummy Oreo Truffles

The food processor makes the filling easy to mix, then it’s time to roll, chill, dip, and decorate! Here’s a quick look at the steps.

Golden Oreos crushed into fine crumbs in a food processor, then topped with cream cheese and cinnamon
  • Crush the cookies into fine crumbs, then mix with softened cream cheese and cinnamon until the filling holds together.

  • The filling forms into a dough ball when ready.
  • Scoop about 2 Tablespoons of filling per truffle and roll into balls. I made mine this size to leave enough room for the candy eyes and bandages. Chill until firm.
  • Dip each ball into melted white coating, lift it out with a fork, and gently tap off the excess. Slide onto parchment paper and add the eyes while the coating is still soft.

  • Once the coating has set, use the remaining melted coating to drizzle overlapping mummy bandages with a fork, piping bag, or zip-top bag with a tiny corner snipped off. Leave the eyes showing! Rewarm the coating gently according to the package directions if needed.

Tips for Dipping and Decorating

  • Keep the filling chilled. If the balls soften while you’re dipping, return them to the refrigerator.
  • Support each truffle on the fork as you dip them. Don’t pierce it with the tines.
  • Snip a tiny opening in the piping bag. You can always make it a little larger.
  • No piping bag? I used a fork to drizzle the bandages on mine. The lines aren’t quite as neat, but they still make cute little mummies!
  • Eyes didn’t stick? Attach them with a small dot of melted chocolate coating.

Storing Mummy Oreo Truffles

Storage: Keep the finished truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Separate stacked layers with parchment paper to protect the decorations.

Make-Ahead: You can make and decorate these ahead, then keep them refrigerated until serving. If you prefer, prepare the filling balls ahead and dip and decorate them later.

Ingredients

  • 18 Golden Double Stuf Oreo Cookies* including filling
  • 3 ounces Full-Fat Brick Cream Cheese softened, plus more only if needed
  • ½ teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 10 ounces White Melting Wafers divided
  • 20 Candy Eyes

Instructions

  • Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper.

Make the Truffle Filling

  • Process the whole Oreo cookies in a food processor until finely crushed.
  • Add the cream cheese and cinnamon. Pulse until evenly combined, scraping down the bowl as needed. The mixture should form a dough ball and hold together when squeezed, with no cream cheese streaks. If crumbly, add a little more cream cheese, 1 teaspoon at a time, only as needed. If too soft to roll, refrigerate briefly until workable.

Form the Balls

  • Scoop approximately 2 Tablespoons of filling per truffle and roll into 10 balls. Place on the prepared baking sheet.

Chill

  • Refrigerate for 30 minutes, or until firm enough to dip without losing their shape.

Decorate

  • Melt the white melting chocolate according to the package directions.
  • Working with a few chilled truffles at a time, dip each into the melted coating. Lift out with a fork supporting the bottom. Gently tap off excess coating, then slide onto the parchment paper.
  • Immediately attach 2 candy eyes before the coating sets. If the coating sets too quickly, attach the eyes with a small dot of melted coating.
  • Once the coating has set, use the remaining melted coating to drizzle overlapping mummy bandages with a fork, piping bag, or zip-top bag with a tiny corner snipped off. Leave the eyes exposed. Rewarm the coating gently according to the package directions if needed.

Store Until Serving

  • Allow the bandages to set, then refrigerate the truffles in an airtight container until serving.

Notes

  • *This recipe is written for Golden Double Stuf Oreos. Regular Golden Oreos: Use 18 cookies and start with the cream cheese amount listed. If the mixture is crumbly and won’t hold together when squeezed, add softened cream cheese 1 teaspoon at a time until it rolls into smooth balls.
  • The approximately 2-Tablespoon size leaves room for the candy eyes and decorations. Smaller balls will yield more truffles.
  • The coating amount allows extra depth for dipping; some may remain. Keep the reserved decorating wafers separate for clean white bandages.
Optional pumpkin spice variation: Add ¼ teaspoon Pumpkin Pie Spice with the cinnamon, then adjust to taste.
  • Double all ingredients to make approximately 20 truffles.
