Slow Cooker Crack Chicken

If you are looking for a slow cooker chicken breast recipe that is delicious and fast cooking, this is a great choice! Crack Chicken has a big following because it is delicious and so easy to make!

If you have never had Crack Chicken, you might be wondering just what it is. And why that name?

Slow Cooker Crack Chicken is made from chicken breasts that have slow cooked with cream cheese, ranch seasoning and other herbs and spices. It is finished off with green onions, bacon and cheese.

I’m not sure about the name, it must be because someone thought it was just too good, hence, the name. I don’t like the name, but this is what it is known as, and I wanted people to recognize what it is.

    This is my own version of this recipe. There were a lot of people who didn’t like the original (not my recipe), so I upgraded it.

  • My version is less salty.
  • I added more flavor with herbs and spices.
  • The cook time is shorter so the chicken doesn’t dry out.

This version of crock pot crack chicken is really good! I tested this recipe multiple times, with several people. Everyone liked it!

Since this is a q pretty quick cooking recipe, for a slow cooker, I recommend getting a programmable one. It will automatically switch to “Keep Warm” when the cook time is finished. Just in case you are late getting to it.

Slow Cooker Crack Chicken

Ingredients 

  • 2 lbs Chicken Breast, (about 4 boneless/skinless breasts)
  • 1 (1 oz) pkg Ranch Dressing Mix
  • ยฝ tsp Dill Weed, dried
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • ยฝ tsp Onion Powder
  • ยผ tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 3 tsp Parsley, chopped (dried or fresh)
  • ยผ tsp Pepper
  • 16 oz Cream Cheese (2 of the 8 oz blocks)
  • ยผ cup Water

To Finish

  • 1 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded
  • 7 slices Thick Cut Bacon, cooked & chopped
  • 3 Green Onions, chopped

Instructions 

  • Spray the crock with cooking spray.
  • Add the chicken breasts.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the ranch dressing mix, dill, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, parsley, and pepper. Sprinkle over the chicken
  • Add the cream cheese and the water.
  • Place the lid on and cook on Low for 2-3 hours, or until the chicken is done and shreddable.
  • Use two forks to shred the chicken right in the crock.
  • Add the cheddar cheese, cooked bacon pieces, and the green onion. Stir. It might seem a little wet, but as you shred and as it cools it will thicken up nicely.
  • Serve on buns, as a dip, or any way you like!

    Very good. My whole family loved the slow cooker crack chicken. I used boneless skinless chicken thighs
    and added a little extra of the spices and served with fettuccine pasta. Will definitely make again.
