Apple Cranberry Coleslaw Ingredients
You won’t need many ingredients for this tasty coleslaw recipe. Sometimes simple is better!

Here’s what’s in this delicious side dish salad: Coleslaw Mix, Apple, Dried Cranberries, Sliced Almonds, Poppy Seeds, Mayonnaise, Greek Yogurt, Apple Cider Vinegar, Honey, Salt, Black Pepper
Ingredient Notes
Apple: Use a crisp apple that will hold its texture well in the coleslaw. Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, Fuji, or Gala are all good choices. There’s no need to peel it.
Dried Cranberries: These add little bursts of sweet-tart flavor and make this coleslaw easy to prepare any time of year.
Sliced Almonds: Lightly toasting the almonds brings out their flavor and adds extra crunch.
Greek Yogurt: Greek yogurt keeps the dressing creamy without making it too heavy. Sour cream can be used instead.
Poppy Seeds: Poppy seeds add a little texture and look pretty in the slaw. Celery seeds can be substituted for a more traditional coleslaw flavor.
Variations & Substitutions
- You can substitute dried cherries or raisins for the dried cranberries.
- Substitute chopped toasted pecans or walnuts for the sliced almonds.
- Use sour cream in place of the Greek yogurt.
- Use celery seeds instead of poppy seeds.
- Try a different crisp apple depending on how sweet or tart you want the coleslaw.

- Add coleslaw ingredients to a large bowl. Toss to combine.
- Add coleslaw dressing ingredients to a small bowl and whisk to combine.

- Pour the coleslaw dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss well to combine.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill. Stir just before serving.

Make Ahead & Storage
For the best flavor, refrigerate the coleslaw for at least 30 minutes before serving. This gives it time to chill and lets the flavors in the dressing blend.
Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The cabbage and apples will gradually soften, so the coleslaw is best during the first day or two.
