Halloween Hot Dog Mummies are a tasty treat for wrapping up your Halloween hunger pains. This is a fun recipe that the kids can help with!
Heat oven to 375° F.
Take the hot dogs out of the package and dry them using paper towels. Set aside.
Carefully unroll the crescent dough. Don't separate the triangles. Separate at the perforations that are after every 2 triangles, so you have a rectangle (made of 2 triangles). You will have 4 total rectangles.
On each rectangle, gently pinch together the perforation between the 2 triangles so it is a smooth rectangle of dough.
Cut the dough lengthwise into ten ¼" strips. You will end up with forty ¼" strips of dough total.
Wrap 4 strips around each hot dog, stretching the strip a little, leaving some gaps where the hot dog shows through. You can even leave a gap near the top to put in some eyes!
OPTIONAL: Place a slice of cheese on one side of the hot dog and wrap the dough "bandages" around to hold cheese in place.
Place them on an ungreased baking sheet (cheese side down, if using cheese).
Bake 13 to 17 minutes or until dough is light golden brown.
Serve immediately with dipping sauce of your choice.
*Keep the dough refrigerated until you are ready for them. Otherwise the dough is hard to work with.
For appetizer sized hot dog mummies, just use cocktail wieners or cut the regular size hot dogs in half.
