The Apple Butter Old Fashioned Cocktail is a delicious fall or winter cocktail that is made with real apple butter! This fabulous cocktail is a favorite of ours. Once you try it, this special Old Fashioned cocktail may become a favorite drink of yours, too!

Apple Butter Old Fashioned Cocktail

This year I made a fair amount of apple butter in my Instant Pot. It is so delicious! I used some of it to make this Apple Butter Old Fashioned Cocktail. You can use any apple butter that you like, it will be amazing!

Paul and I tried a new restaurant in our town the other night. I ordered the Apple Butter Old Fashioned Cocktail, and loved it. It was boozy, kind of spicy, and just a touch fruity. I knew I had to make my own version of this delicious drink to enjoy at home!

Mine is a little different from what I had at the restaurant as I used my own apple butter, and my favorite bourbon.

This version of an Old Fashioned cocktail contains 2 oz of bourbon, as opposed to 1.5 oz in the traditional drink. The flavors in the bourbon shine through the warm spices of the apple butter. I really like the stronger flavor.

Of course, you can try it first with only 1.5 oz of bourbon if you are worried about it being too strong, and add the extra .5 oz if you want to!

Ingredients

2 Tbsp Apple Butter
2 oz Bourbon (we like Buffalo Trace)
¼ cup Apple Cider
2 shakes Angostura Bitters
Ice

Sugar Rim for Glass

2 Tbsp Coarse Sugar (or sugar/brown sugar mix)

Instructions

Sugar the rim of the glass by holding the glass upside down and dipping the glass in apple cider about ½ inch. Then dip in coarse sugar, or a sugar/brown sugar mix. Set aside.
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker.
Add ice and shake for 20-30 seconds.
Pour over large ice cubes in an old fashioned glass.
Garnish with a cinnamon stick and thinly sliced apple.
